Museum, Society and Development

The Tropenmuseum Amsterdam in cooperation with CulturCooperation e.V. has organized an expert meeting on "Museum, Society and Development" from 15-17 May 2008, held in the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.

Cultural Tourism

The protection of cultural assets
The magazine, which will be edited in august 2006, deals with the dramatic loss of cultural objects through theft, destruction and illicit trade. The magazine will present the international conventions for the protection of cultural objects and describe their implementation in Europe and the developing countries. Measures for the improvement of the protection of cultural objects and the prevention of illicit trade in Europe will be described. |

Fashion "made in africa"
Up to now, the subject of fashion and textile production in developing countries has only been regarded in development politics of NGOs under the aspect of working conditions and the ecological problems in the textile factories which produce for the international market. These initiatives, such as the Campaign for Clean Clothes, are still important. With this magazine about African Fashion produced in Africa mainly for African consumers we draw public attention to another topic: the connection between culture and development.

Mode "made in africa" presents African fashion designers and their engagement for sustainable development and the fight against poverty in their countries. Mode "made in Africa" appeared in September 2005, the written language is German. It is actually exhausted.

Das Tropenmuseum Amsterdam hat in Zusammenarbeit mit der CulturCooperation eine internationale Tagung organisiert, die vom 15. bis 17. Mai 2008 im Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam stattfand.

Die IKA-Ausgabe "Kulturtourismus" richtet sich an kulturinteressierte Reisende ebenso wie an Experten aus Entwicklungspolitik, Bildung und der Tourismusbranche. Projekte aus der EZ, Analysen zu nachhaltigen Tourismus-Konzepten und Länderberichte aus verschiedenen Kontinenten öffnen vielfältige Perspektiven auf Kultur, Tourismus und Entwicklung und reflektieren den aktuellen Stand der Debatte.

Das Heft, das im August 2006 erscheint, behandelt den dramatischen Verlust von Kulturgütern durch Raub, Zerstörung und illegalen Handel auf verschiedenen Kontinenten. Ein Überblick über die UNESCO-Konventionen zum Kulturgüterschutz und den Stand ihrer Umsetzung in Europa und den Ländern des Südens vermittelt einen Eindruck von der internationalen Sachlage. Fachliche Expertisen und Praxisbeispiele von Maßnahmen zum Kulturgüterschutz - auch in Europa - stellen den inhaltlichen Schwerpunkt dar. |

Bis heute wurde das Thema Mode- und Textilproduktion in den Ländern des Südens im entwicklungspolitischen Kontext lediglich unter den Aspekten der Einkommenssicherung und ökologischen Bedingungen in der Textilindustrie betrachtet. Das Magazin Mode made in Africa über afrikanische Mode, die in Afrika und für afrikanische Abnehmer produziert wird, lenkt die Aufmerksamkeit auf einen Aspekt des Themas, der bisher wenig Beachtung findet: Die Verbindung von Kultur und Entwicklung, von kreativem Schaffen und nachhaltiger Verbesserung der Lebensqualität. mehr |
